In 2015 the Archivio Generale Arcivescovile began a new agreement with the Università degli Studi di Bologna to allow students to complete academic internships at the archive. The wide variety of the documents preserved in the archive allows many different types of research and internships.
The first interns started an inventory of reused parchments, parchments that once outlived their usefulness and were then used as covers or endpapers in new bindings (more informations on page Manuscript fragments). This inventory, carried on the Archivio Capitolare, led to the discovery of a significant number of Hebrew, Greek, Latin and musical fragments. Thanks to curricular internships of the University of Bologna, hundred of fragments have been discovered and then catalogued; the hope is that other students will be interested in this kind of project.
Another completed internship conducted a census of all the sixteen century prints preserved in several archives and catalogued them according to the Edit16 criteria.
At a more specialized level, an internship collected a census of all the acts noted on parchment that were found in the Archivio.
The Archivio Generale Arcivescovile is willing to guide more interns, and offers the possibility of personalising the project according to the student’s interests. For students with archival studies, it is possible to work on the inventory of one of the many archives still in need of a complete inventory catalogue.
