Holdings
The Archiepiscopal Archive is one of the widest archives in the city of Bologna thanks to his 3 miles of shelving, more than 70 holdings and thousands of archival units. Most of the holdings are from an ecclesiastic context. In the Archive papers from the activities of the archbishop (Mensa, Segreteria, etc.), of the curia (Cancellerie, Fori, etc.) and of the cathedral chapter (Chapter’s Archive, Music holding, etc) can be found. Furthermore, parishes’ archives (mainly from abolished parishes), personal archives (such as the Breventani collection and Acquaderni Archives) and corporations’ archives (L’Avvenire d’Italia) are also preserved. Through years was formed the category of holdings of uncertain origins and miscellaneous materials (old miscellaneous and recovered materials).

The most consulted collections are Parish Registers and Pastoral Visits.
The following list shows the accessible holdings, ordered by letter and with the information on possible accessory items. The documents can be consulted in the study room and some online through the link. For a complete list of the holdings and accessory items click here.
